Where our salt begins: lava seawater
We make salt using Jeju lava seawater as the raw material. This is Jeju seawater that passes through basalt, is naturally filtered and remains underground. Our powdered salt's ingredient and content declaration reads ‘제주용암해수 100%’ (100% Jeju lava seawater).
Our lava seawater article explains the water's source and its use as a raw material.
The production process and the history of the technology
We concentrate the raw water we draw, then finely spray the concentrate to evaporate moisture and form salt crystals. After drying and selection, the salt passes through a metal detector before being put into containers for packaging.
You can see the sequence on our page about the lava seawater salt-making process. That article covers the steps from water intake to packaging.
Our company history records patents relating to equipment and methods for making salt. The Mineral Salt patents article lists the technology names and registration dates from 2012 through 2025.
