JEJU SALT · LAVA SEAWATER

Clear, clean water
from Jeju’s ancient sea

Lava seawater is saline groundwater naturally filtered through Jeju’s volcanic rock layers. Jeju Technopark describes its mineral composition and properties.

WHAT IT IS

Found in Jeju. Naturally filtered through basalt.

Seawater seeps underground through Jeju’s volcanic rock layers and is naturally filtered along the way. This saline groundwater is the lava seawater we use to make our salt.

01

Stability

Jeju Technopark describes the source water’s small daily and seasonal variations in physical properties.

02

Source-water testing

The microplastics report commissioned by Jeju Technopark concerns the lava seawater used as our raw material.

03

Salt testing

Self-quality inspection reports dated July 7 and October 7, 2026 record lead and cadmium as not detected in the salt samples tested.

INTAKE

Lava seawater minerals, a wide range of uses.

Deep ocean water is drawn from depths of 200 meters or more, making intake piping costly to install and maintain. Lava seawater is drawn on land. Its mineral composition is studied for use across a range of industries.

Jeju Technopark describes minerals in lava seawater, including zinc (Zn), vanadium (V) and germanium (Ge). This describes the source water, rather than health effects of our salt.

What makes lava seawater different

Lava seawater is saline groundwater drawn on land from beneath Jeju’s volcanic rock layers.

Raw material

Our salt is not made directly from seawater. Saline groundwater, known as lava seawater, makes up 100% of our raw material.

MINERALS

The mineral composition of lava seawater

Jeju Technopark describes zinc, vanadium and germanium in lava seawater, alongside magnesium and calcium. These descriptions concern the source water and its industrial uses.

VVanadium (V)
MgMagnesium (Mg)
CaCalcium (Ca)
GeGermanium (Ge)

This summary draws on the Lava Seawater Center’s description of its official video about the water’s composition and properties.

This account concerns the source water. The video itself contains dramatized content, as noted by its creators.
