Mineral Salt patents: a history of salt-making equipment and methods

Our company history lists nine patents: seven in Korea and one each in Japan and China. All concern methods and equipment for making salt.

Mineral Salt patents: a history of salt-making equipment and methods

Mineral Salt patent history and the YTN broadcast

You can watch YTN Science’s “함께 뛰는 대한민국” program introducing our company, Jeju Mineral Salt. The link leads to the official YouTube video.

The Mineral Salt patent records in our history cover equipment and methods for making salt from 2012 to 2025. The entry for 2012-01 concerns equipment and a method for crystallizing seawater or deep ocean water in the air. The entries for 2013 concern equipment and methods for making mineral salt from seawater and concentrated seawater.

Our company was established in 2013-11. The first patent entry in our history dates to 2012, before the company was established.

In 2014, the records continue with equipment and a method for making mineral salt from lava seawater, and salt manufacturing equipment. In 2017, they list Japanese and Chinese patents for salt manufacturing equipment. The 2025 entries cover salt manufacturing equipment in July and a liquid salt production method in October.

Below, you can see the technology names and registration numbers by year. Our salt-making process page covers the steps from drawing the raw water to obtaining and packaging salt.

Starting with ways to obtain salt from seawater

The earliest entry, from 2012-01, is “해수 또는 심층해수를 공중에서 순간적으로 결정화시킨 후 소금 및 물 또는 심층수를 제조하는 장치 및 그 방법” (equipment and method for producing salt and water or deep ocean water after instantaneously crystallizing seawater or deep ocean water in the air). It is Patent No. 10-1113348.

There are two entries for 2013: “해수로부터 미네랄 소금을 제조하는 장치 및 방법” (equipment and method for producing mineral salt from seawater), No. 10-1337049, and “해수담수화 장치에서 얻어지는 농축해수로부터 미네랄소금을 제조하는 장치 및 방법” (equipment and method for producing mineral salt from concentrated seawater obtained from a seawater desalination unit), No. 10-1337110.

Mineral Salt patents: a history of salt-making equipment and methods

A patent with lava seawater in its title

In 2014-01, we registered “용암해수로부터 미네랄소금을 제조하는 장치 및 방법” (equipment and method for producing mineral salt from lava seawater), Patent No. 10-1352754. Two patents include lava seawater in the invention’s title: this one and the liquid salt production method, No. 10-2873690, “해수 또는 염지하수(용암해수)를 이용한 액상소금제조방법” (method for producing liquid salt using seawater or saline groundwater (lava seawater)).

In July of the same year, we registered “소금 제조장치” (salt manufacturing equipment), Patent No. 10-1420566.

Overseas and recent registrations

In 2017, we also registered salt manufacturing equipment in Japan and China. The Japanese patent is No. 6139013, and the Chinese patent is No. 2627411. The invention’s title on the Japanese certificate is “塩を製造する装置,” and on the Chinese certificate it is “制盐装置.”

We added two entries in 2025: salt manufacturing equipment in July, Patent No. 10-2841768, and a liquid salt production method in October, Patent No. 10-2873690. The latter is a method for making salt in liquid form.

What do patents tell you?

Patents record that these methods were registered first. They concern rights to methods and equipment, and differ from certifications guaranteeing taste or quality.

The test reports we hold cover general bacteria and E. coli, microplastics, and heavy metals.
